:: PR Newswire, London, April 12. This press release is transmitted on behalf of The Post Office.
Post offices in Scotland will be offering personal banking services for Lloyds TSB customers from the summer.
The announcement of the additional 2,000 offices follows on from the success of the Lloyds TSB service which has been available at post offices in England and Wales since April 1999.
Post Office Network Banking Managing Director Basil Larkins said: ``The post office network is continuing to expand the banking services it offers nationwide. This extension of the Lloyds TSB service is a further example of our growing presence in the market place and our new and building relationships with banking partners.
``Post offices are ideally placed to deliver a range of services, including banking, to communities across the country. More than nine out of 10 people live within a mile of a post office.''
The Lloyds TSB service at post offices offers customers basic banking services - paying in and withdrawing cash and cheques.
Note to Editors:
The Post Office signed a deal with Barclays on Friday (April 7) to provide personal banking services at post offices in England and Wales. Alliance & Leicester customers have been using post offices for withdrawal and deposit transactions since the 1980s. Banking services are also available for The Co-operative Bank and its internet bank smile at all post offices in the UK.
